Another option.........I bought my 2003 225 Mercury EFI 25" shaft for my 23 CC last September from Eckerd College in St. Pete. They buy new engines every year and sell the year old used ones to the public. I paid $7600 for mine with 502 hours.

There may be a college in your area with a "Marine" depatment that does the same.

One thing NOT to do with the Mercury.....run with a low or bad battery!! Screws up the computer big time.
