Update on the clean-up & repair project
I posted 8 more pictures on the boatgallery page tonight. Some show a considerable contrast compared to the first pictures I took. So far I have: sanded the hull cap, sides,& transom. Repaired the damage on the cap and the big gouges on the bottom (trailer burn!) I removed the spray dodger and it's 20 or more snaps, filled the deck and applied new gel coat non-skid. I am really happy the way it turned out. Also sanded, wire brushed, filled, primed and painted the engine and mounts.
Oh - the blushing Icon you ask??? Take it from me - never, ever, ever think you can safely use a high speed polisher even close to eletrical wiring! I was trying to finish the Aquabuff on the transom - "just a little more to go" - "It will be okay." "I'll be really careful" around the two wires running to my transducer, temp sensor, and speedo wheel! Then the polisher, running @ 3000 rpm grabbed those wires, pulled them one end out of the boat, cut them at the other end at the sensors, got bound up on the wheel and nearly broke my wrist, smashed the speedo sensor and temp sensor - all in about 3 seconds! Trying to save ten minutes of hand polishing cost me a good three hours and it still may never be right if there is a break somewhere in one of the wires that I can't detect!
