Default Re: Removing rub rail?

Quote:
When I replaced the rub rail on my 20' I found that the rub rail screws were actually holding the deck and hull together. Most pop rivets had worked out and the bonding material was shot. It seems that the rivets were used only to tack the deck and hull together until the many dozens of rub rail screws were applied. I also used 5200 and new pop rivets.

I had tried many times to repair the original rail and finally replaced it with an all black, all plastic rail from TACO. It was a fairly easy job once the refastening was completed, and really looks great
This is exactly how mine is. I am going to clean it up and get it back together this weekend. I think I will need a lot of new rivits.

Thanks again for all the help.
Chris
