Default Replacing Stringers on a 1978 20'

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to replace the stringers in a 1978 20' SeaCraft? How difficult is the work? What complications should be expected? I'm ultimately going to restore this boat and want it done right. Thanks in advance...

DJC, Why do you feel you need to replace your stringers? Can you hear them knockin around under your feet? Here is part of what your going to get into.

I used a moisture meter to check the hull. Parts of it show significant moisture. However, at this point in time the hull and transom show no soft spots or flex. I'm just preparing myself for what I may encounter down the road.

How much is the work in this picture costing you?

The stringers are fiberglass filled with foam, I would not be surprised if the foam is saturated but would be surprised if the stringers are comprimised.

DJC, As Trayder said, the foam will hold water and usually does. But unless your going to raise the floor height or other major work under the deck, don't worry about it. If you are, then drill holes in the bottom and cut squares out of the top to drain and air out the stringers, then glass back in when dry.

Bobber/Trayder - thanks for the insight. I guess I'll wait until I find soft spots in the decking or transom before I begin the overhaul. Thanks again...
