What trim tabs for 1977 23' CC?

If you had a "soft" open transom could you get away with just rebuilding it as is? It seems like it would save a lot of money vs. enclosing it, adding a bracket, new and longer control cables, risking porpoising with the bracket, etc. Do trim tabs work well with a bracket?

To answer your questions,Yes, I could have opt to stay with the open/splashwell original design. I took several rides on 23's with the full transom, "Reelsmoker" and "Generaider" boats before; I was then sold! [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] I too, worried about porposing. I chose the "SeaMark" Potter design which has a positive flotation chamber vs the aluminum type bracket. The space alone gained by eliminating the large splashwell was enough. "NO" porposing at all that a little tab ajustment can't handle. Yes money could have been saved, but I wanted to complete the restoration to my needs and wants.

BTW: I had Mr Potter on the boat last Thrusday for a couple of hours. We tested the boat and it's performance and he was quite impressed
