I am not recomending what I have done but am astounded at how well it works:

I have a Furuno dual frequency transom mount trinsducer but it is not on the transom. I gooped the bottom of the transducer with 3M 4200 and plopped it square in the middle of my bilge.

It holds a reading at speed 25-30 mph and is crystal clear to 250 plus feet.

I must be loosing some resolution/sensativity but it has worked great for me.

I had a thru hull on my Jupiter and it was ok unless you wanted to get a good temperature read.

I didn't want to go through the trouble of drilling a hole and fairing block.

You don't need a fairing block for a Airmar B-60. Not to be confused with a B-260 X-ducer.
This is a great unit @ 600 watt's w/temp.
