Capped the transom, need some fairing and sanding.
![]() Got a little tired of sanding and grinding so I decided to see how a little rubbing compund and wax would make me feel.I was pleased to see how the 32 year old gel coat was going to hold up. I was pleasantly surprised. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looking really good! The end is in sight.
What are the aft boxes made of? How did you make them? |

The aft boxes are made of 1/2" ply wood. They were made custom and then glassed in place with chop mat inside and out.
Trying to make this boat my last. Jason |

Jason,
Looking really nice. How difficult was it removing the glass from the windshield? What did you use for primer and paint? Based on the color, the primer looks like Trilux. |

Scott,
Man... Two posts in two days!!! Someone actually read my thread. I though for sure I was the outcast of the site due to all of the alterations I am making to the Tsunami. Scott, The primer brand was TEMPO. I used in on an old alum. outdrive in the past it was good stuff. Therefore I used it again. The top coat is a glossy black two part epoxy from Fiberglass Coatings. Not too sure of the brand, but it sure stuck well to the primer. As for the glass.... Well, I'm not sure if my Boat windows were Originals. Pretty sure the four front side windows (excluding the fold out window) were originals as they were heavy safety glass. The others were plexi. The glass ones popped right out after removing the friction fit gaskets. The plexi came out easy but in 20 pieces. New gasket material was ordered from American (60.cents a ft)+ shipping. Oh yeah, I used a soft brass wire wheel to remove the old paint. I would recommend anyone doing this make sure to cover anything that they don't want stained black. I am redoing my top cap anyway so I just let it fly. Best of luck, Jason |
