ive got new t-stats in it now. the poppet maybe bad but i dont know. im going to replace it because its only 20 dollars i think. supposedly my water pump impeller is suspect because it has been sitting since november. i have also been told to just hollow out the thermostats and leave the housing in there. does any one have a detailed pic of the water pump gasket? it could be on backwards or upside down or whatever u want to call it. also can anyone tell me where the serial number on the block is? dont tell me midsection because its not the original one...

Blue - Serial number for the engine can be found here.
![]() Did you swap either adaptor plate when you mounted the powerhead on the 2.5L mid-section? I might be crazy here, but it looks like you are mixing adapter plates bottom from 2.5 and top from 2.4L ![]() |

Yeah . . . I posted this on there too. 2.4 and 2.5L plates are very different.

What you've marked is correct . . . I've only ever used one base gasket (29 or 29a) under the powerhead, but go by the book . . . I'm kind of a hack when it comes to this
![]() The guys right . . . he should be able to have that powerhead off and the gaskets changed out in less than an hour. I would supervise if I were you. Make sure he cleans the surfaces well before he puts the new gaskets on given his history of mixing 2.4L and 2.5L adapter plates. Also I would recommend getting more than one base gaskets (29 and 29a) Just in case you forget to put the shift shaft back and muck up the base gasket (it'll save you a trip to the store). |
