Default Re: Insurance Question!

In Florida, I found when I was looking for insurance that boats older than ten years are harder to insure than those that are younger than that. A few companies that I called when seeking insurance for mine had quit writing new boat policies altogether (this was after the banner '04 hurricane season). I finally managed to get Allstate to write a full replacement cost policy for me due to my boat being previously insured by Allstate in NC, and having a current (as in week-old) survey in hand. As of the most recent rate hike, I pay $1K/year for a replacement cost of $38K. Even with the current survey, Progressive, Geico, State Farm, Farmers, etc wouldn't even consider it when they learned it was over 10 years old. Maybe they have changed their policy on that but that's what I came up against.
