I'm having a new fuel tank made also for my Spetre. Its going to be 3/16" alum and then coated with Coal tar epoxy.
You will never have to worry about corrosion again.

I have not thought about coating the tank but will look into it. I firmly believe in a well sealed hatch with no foam. I am putting a sight glass above the tank to be able to visually monitor it.

Coal tar epoxy is the only way to go.The guys at classic mako swear by it.Some guys use a primer first like awlgrip 545 and then the coal tar.

Where do you get it? How do you apply? Is it better than epoxy coating a fuel tank? As I understand it can be applied to aluminum.

Rhino Liner the stuff they use on truck beds works great.

I would use either coal tar epoxy or zinc chromate on the tanks.
