Thanks McGillicuddy...I like teak! It can be a pain to keep up,but it looks good.

I would think that if the spray rails on this boat are as old as the boat that most of the natural oils are gone.Anyway,it certainly could be sanded, epoxied and painted.I would hesitate on using AwlGrip or Alexseal only because 2/3's of the spray rail will be under water on a 20.I made rails out of fir on a 20 I did last year and bottom painted the boat including the spray rails and it looked pretty good.

No I don't have a template.I laid out enough material on the floor,(I think it was around 19 feet, I went from the transom to the stem)and marked off the taper I was looking for, then cut it on a table saw(band saw would be easier if you have one).Once cut I screwed it from behind to a long peice of 1 by material to hold it in place and I shaped it with a planner and belt sander.
I'm not so sure Ipe will bend enough up forward. If you plan to paint it,you could make relief cuts on the back side to help it bend and once it is installed just fill the cuts with epoxy and cabosil and paint it.

They will absolutley help keep spray down. Now,having said that, remember we are talking about little boats and they are going to be wet when it gets a bit snotty, especially a SeaCraft. But you will stay drier with them than without them.As far as pounding, they ain't going to help.
I beleive the only way to stop a 20 foot boat from pounding is pull her back a few hundred.
