Do you guys put seacocks on all your thru hulls that are below the waterline?
My 18 has the livewell overflow and drain going straight out the transom without valves. I'm thinking of replacing the plastic factory ones with some stainless ones from Gem and want to get the right ones (threaded for valves or just barbed). Because the overflow always allows water in, a valve to shut it off completely will solve that problem. I know there's a huge safety factor in having them but the darn valves are an arm & leg! ![]()

On my 1 ½overflow because it is high on the live well tank I have no valve and it goes out the bottom of the transom with double hose clamps and very good hose. On my drain line to drain the tank at the end of the day I have a sea cock on it. That of course goes from the bottom of the tank and also goes out the transom that one is Ύ. I only use brass or Stanless steel for all my through hull fittings they look better and I really dont trust nylon or plastic under the water line.

FS, does your overflow allow water into the well or is it so high it doesn't?
Mine will fill the well without some sort of plug (I have a sink drain plug in it now but it doesn't seal it very well and still fills albiet slower) and it is pretty high up the side. On the drain, I just have a plug in it and pull it to drain at the end of the day (or during the day when the overflow fills it ![]()

Hi 1Step;
First off my boat is a 23 CC with a 32 custom tank I built and moved forward just behind the leaning post. It is mounted under the deck so some of your problems could apply to my set up but I Do Not have any back flow from my overflow hose. I did have a 18 Hydrasport boat and mounted a live well tank Above the deck. I felt on that boat it would be the best way to go. ![]() FellowShip . Thanks FS.
Looking in the bilge last night, it doesn't look like I have enough room for the seacock on the overflow, just a little bit too tight. Thanks for the help.
