You did all you could although you could throw a bit of Evinrude 2+4 in there which will mix the water and run it out. Your filter should work fine just pull it and drain it to check, pour it in something you see any water. I picked up some in the keys for the second time but have been checking the filter and nothing since.

Those clear bowl Racors just make it easier to check/see, otherwise just pull and drain the filter in something to check it. You will have to refill the filter with fuel though.
