I looked at a nice Seabird when I was looking for my boat it had very low gunnels not a very deep boat.Looked wet and maybe scary.

I used to have a '72 23-footer and it had LOTS of freeboard due to the non-self bailing feature - the deck was below the water line. Not any wetter than a 23 SC. I wonder if the one you saw had some deck modifications? Either that or it wasn't the 23'.
