Default Re: test pic

what i did to make the livewell was to find a plastic drum 35 to 55 gallons and it needs to be smooth on the inside no bands or marking on it. cut the top and the bottom off at the height you want. with the top and bottom cut off you can now shape it in an oval. when you get the shape you want note the dim across the top width & lenght. build a 4 sided box with no top or bottom out of 3/4 ply so you can slide the plastic drum in the box and it will hold that shape. the box should be 3/4'' shorter than the drum. now get a piece of 3/4''ply or mdf cut about 5'' bigger all the way around the end of the oval, and glue a piece of formica to it. next place the drum on top of the formica and center it,mark the inside and the outside of the drum on the formica. take a 1/4 drill ,drill between those 2 lines, take a jig saw and cut both lines out. the inside piece becomes the top of the livewell with the formica on the inside, the other piece becomes the flange at the bottom. secure both pieces, clay radius the top. rout with a 1/2 round the bottom where drum and the formica meet. this is your temp mold, just wax it ,gelcoat it and lay it up . all the work is done thru the open bottom when done knock your wood box off and cut the drum off. i added two pic's in my slideshow of one i did for my other boat
