Closing in the transom and adding Dons bracket was the best thing I did to that boat. I have a 1999 Evinrude Ficht 175 that I rebuilt, boat will run between 50 to 53 mph per GPS. Boat sits alot higher in the water and is still self bailing. I am so happy with Dons work, he is in the process of doing the same to my 23' sf that I bought last year.
