Did the same with the vent hose.
Other than a little bit of a PIA getting at the screws,it was pretty easy.

You didn't have to cut a hole in the pillar to install / gain access to change out the VENT TUBE??

Nope, the vent went out pretty high.I was able to get to it,by reaching up under the gunwale, just to the front of the pillar a little bit.I had to go down, with my hand a bit, then I was able to push it up,and on.
I did cut up my hand a bit on some rough glass, but i was able to slide the hose on to the vent and clamp it.I don't know, maybe I just got lucky.

Here's where my vent is,you can see it,just under the blue horizontal scaffold tube.It still has the masking tape on it,looks like a nub.

You're fortunate. Vent hose on mine came out of a small hole at a right angle near the top of what you call a pillar. Could not reach it by hand, let alone get it through that hole and out to the vent fitting on the side of the boat. Had to cut an access port to get at the vent hose. Fuel filler hose was pulled through to the top of the gunwale with the old hose. My tank remained in place during the procedure.
