Cdavis,
I stripped the aluminum to the bare metal,and then washed it with a strong cleaner and followed up with a sanding with some 320 paper.
I then applied a flash coat of Sherwin Williams automotive E2-G973 self etching vinyl wash primer.
Next was a coat of E2-A26 gray Jet seal(sealer).
and finally the finish coat of Sunfire.

Here's a couple of pictures of my old 1976 18'aluminum Starcraft that i restored.the boat is painted with the sunfire urethane,and the trailer was painted with Pettit Easypoxy.
It's hard to see the shine on both in the pics,but this was about 10 years after the boat was painted.
