Default Control Cables TFTextreme or standard

I need to replace the control cables on the Seavette. Any need to go with the TFTextreme (4" bending radius) or is the standard 8" radius just fine? Any opinions? Cables are 16' for starboard and 18' for port.

I currently have old chrome twin merControl. Any reason to change that?
Thanks.

I'm not sure on a Seavette but they shouldn't have any tight bends in them that I remember. Heck my standard shift cable actually had a knot in it - I mean pulled tight too from when they pulled it through and it worked quite a while after I bought the boat - glad it wasn't the LU

I think those are needed more on flats boats, where the cable has 2 very tight turns out of the tube and then back to the motor

Gillie,
I`m researching this now. Folks really seem to love the Xtreme for a few clams more. Really smooooth is what I`m reading. Service and lube the old box and good to go if it passes a visual.

Cheers,
GFS

Depends on the price difference, Sandy might need them more but I have standard in mine now.

I've run the Teleflex TFT Extreme cables on my last two boats and love them.
I have them on my Tsunami for both the outdrive and the kicker.I had to make a couple tight radius bends on the kicker and the Extreme cables seem to provide a much smoother and easier movement over the standard cables.

I went this route because of the difficult routing I had to make for the kicker. On a pretty straight forward run the standard cables will usually work fine.

John,
Thanks for the input. The previous arrangement had some unnecessary turns which I'll probably change. I thought TFTextremes might offer greater throttle sensitivity, too.

Its a solid piece of wire, it either slides or it doesn't LOL bending to much can make it not slide though but I never had an issue with cables on mine (except knots), just standard.
