I put a drain plug in the bottom of the livewell
right in the middle of the channel that runs into the drain pump
when I need the livewell just put in the plug
when not in use remove plug and water will drain into the bilge
I keep the boat in a rack, so the boat plug is alway out when in the rack
when the livewell gets some water in it without the water draining it does get scummy

I really want to remove it,seal it with a good hatch, and use the space for bilge access and a place to put all of the pumps

I had mine set up but with the new stand alone units out there and the amount of room back there I would do that now. That thing is so big you can't catch a the last doz pinfish out it - kinda like a marine aquarium LOL
