my 20 sf has a 25" merc on it with no bracket. that is one of the requirements?

Yes, the motor must be a 25" shaft length to work with the bracket.

How about the old Wavelength. You did the transom a couple years ago. Now has a 1999 250 Johnson. Many more upgrades and improvements.
