Like you, I suspect that most ideas that sound "too good to be true" usually end up being just that.

Before you take off and start getting busy on the "terrific" idea, stop and think what isn't going to work out in long run. In this case, the original problem is a process resulting in the problem. Without stopping that process while correcting the problem, the process continues. It will likely be creating a bigger problem or a more difficult correcting process in order to repair it a second time.
