1977 20ft Master Angler Restoration

West System 407. Used it with epoxy on the transom and bottom of hull. I will fair the rest of the transom with quickfair. Got the top cap off. I am just replacing the wood at the rear of the cap. The rest is in alot better shape then I thought.

Got the inner fiberglass cut out and cleaned up. Used paper to make some patterns that I traced onto the divinycell. Now I just need to sand alittle more. I should have the top cap back on by the weekend. I am going to keep the braces under the cap. From the factory they just put some mat connecting the brace to the cap, and it has cracked almost all of them. I will grind these out and replace with a couple layers of glass. Also drilled out all the previous repairs to the cap and will redo them.

Ended up using 1/2" for the top cap coring. Got the braces under the top cap glassed and the front bulkhead. Used some West system 410 to start fairing the transom.

Thanks man. Put some quikfair putty on the inside of the hull this evening. This stuff is great. Goes on very easy. Started remodeling my wifes buisness this weekend so boat stuff came second.

Are you going to replace the carpet inside below the gunnel or just paint? Does anyone know the purpose for the carpet?

Yeah I am going to fair it out and paint it. I guess the carpet was to cover up the woven since there is no liner.

I would think about putting a layer of matt over the quik fair and then some more quick fair while the matt is a bit green. I did on mine because I was afraid the flex would cause the quick fair to crack. That is just a guess on my part. somebody may know for sure

I know that is what I was worried about. I went out there last night and pushed, pulled, and banged all on the side that I put it on. It actually is very strong stuff and did not act like it wanted to crack. Plus with raising the floor and tying everything together it made the side very stiff. When I bolt the top cap on, it should not be a problem.

So you used quickfair also?

Been hard at it. Got the first coat of fairing sanded on the transom. Sanded all the inside plus the floor. All is ready for fairing. Started sanding the console. I will add some glass to the bottom edge and remove all the foam around the box.
