I got some cheap refurb rigid sanders. 5 inch orbital and 18 inch belt together were under $80. Both fit with the rigid vacuum I already have.

One trick I figured out is to take a bungie cord and hook both sides over the gunnel. Then put the sander in the loop. Now you just have to move the sander around, bouncing on bungie, instead of holding it up the whole time.

I have long and short bungies, which seems to be enough (connect them end to end) to cover most the sides and bottom.
