Rule #3 in buying any vehicle or vessel: You must be willing to walk away.
Fred, if your gut feeling was telling you to walk away, that means you were at least subconsciously aware that it wasn't a good deal. Out of nearly 100 purchased, I have only twice in 42 years sold a vessel or vehicle at a loss. For both those purchases, my gut told me to walk away, but I wanted them too much to do that. One was a '67 Maserati Merak I purchased from my cousin in '79, and one was a Wellcraft 255 Suncruiser I bought in '84, and I regretted both purchases later. (Yes, there were women involved in both instances). MORAL OF THE STORY: When your gut tells you something like that, honor the threat!
