Thanks a lot for the info guys
We will not have a 4x4 unfortantly. We will only have a few days in the cape area. I have been thinking about one of the islands but I was not sure if it would be worth it. We will basically have an after noon and the following day before we have to head to connecticut. I was hoping to maybe see some of the old nautical museums? Well anymore suggestions and places to eat and stay would be great! |

You did not mention what days you'll be on Cape COD. If you can be there on a Friday evening make sure you are in Chatham for their town Band Concert. There's nothing more Americana than sitting with a few 1000 people on blankets that were staked out at 8:00 AM, helium balloons strung one to the other reaching hundreds of feet into the air, a small town band on a bandstand playing classic American songs and virtually every person is either dancing or singing along. Believe me, it doesn't get any better than that!
Another thing you can do while in Chatham, if you are there earlier in the day, is take the family out to the outer beach Pleasant Bay and see the seals up on the sand sunning themselves. You'll also get a good tour of some of the treacherous waters surrounding the cape and having a greater appreciation for those who sailed them in the past. (Okay, I'm partial to Chatham. It is not as nice as it used to be-too many people, too much new money-but it certainly still invokes memories of times past.) Visiting the Constitution in Boston is a terrific idea. While your there, There is Faneuil hall and Quincy market-fun places both. If you would like to give me a call I would be happy to speak with you. I was born in Boston and have spent more than 50 years of my life in and around Boston. Phone number-978. 363. 5161.
