74 Tsunami project now a 77 Sceptre it's a disease

I stripped the 74 Tsunami to the bones ready to start cutting out the floor and got interrupted by a craigs listing of a 77 Sceptre in Northern California. I didn't see the ad right away so when I called, it was already sold and another guy in line if the first sale fell through. The first buyer found out he could not tow it with a Honda pilot so the deal fell through. The next buyer changed his mind so I got an opportunity. The disease set in! Low time second owner boat in almost new condition with 421 hours, 228HP I/O, new 18hp kicker, transom was already redone, out drive rebuilt, new Bimini top with full enclosure, trailer with new brakes and tires. The boat was well taken care of. My new red October. The project boat is on hold. All of a sudden I own two Sea Crafts, yes it is a disease.

Nice find, Wayne. If you want to rejuvenate that gelcoat, try some Poly Glow. It will shine like new, and require a lot less elbow grease than wax.

Thanks for the compliment, it really is about as clean as I have ever run into for 34 years old. It makes it nice for quick use but I am still looking forward to the 74 project since I can modify and redesign what I want for the end product. I did some research on poly glo and also got mixed results. Sounds good for temporary but not long term.

I have used Poly-glow for several years and got Dave hooked on it. PowerBoat Reports did a comparison test of similar products and said it was the best. It definitely beats waxing and will easily last a year even in the S. Florida sun, much longer if you keep a cover on the boat. The only thing I've noticed with it is that if you use a strong cleaner like Simple Green full strength, it will tend to remove the coating. It's easy to do a local touch up however . . . a few coats and it blends right in.

Nice looking boat Wayne! I call first right of refusal if you ever decide to sell her That boat really tempted me because it was in such good condition...those dont come around too often.
