Default 77 Sceptre being sold this week...

Maybe some of the more experienced members can offer me some feedback on this...

I posted in the classified section and it appears my post is gone, I'm guessing it was deleted though I didn't get notice of that. Is the only way to pass this info along to the members of this site to pay $25 to post in classifieds? Keep in mind that I'm not interested in "listing" the boat here... I've decided to sell the boat at auction and take my chances there. I'm only looking to inform here.

Thanks ahead of time. Mike

Yep. If you post it for sale here, you have to pay. "Informing" is the same as advertising.

So your post got deleted and it seems that you have figured out why and then you put up another post/add in the general forum telling the world that you are selling it on e-bay

If you really cared about what this web site asks of it's members then you would have titled this post a little differently. It does not take a experienced member to tell you this CAN YOU READ?

Let me suggest that the members here are the most passionate, interested and knowledgeable in the item you are attempting to SELL. This group depends on the few dollars it collects from posts to its "For Sale" section to offset the costs of maintaining the site and virtully every member in good standing respects that. If it is for no other reason than you are reaching the 3000 plus members who represent the best chance you have for selling your item at a price that likely exceeds that of a less knowledgeable buyer. Cheap insurance you might say.

Freeloaders need not apply! Your choice!

Just pay the $25. It's the right thing to do.

Thank you for the informative replies. Fortunately, it isn't often that a stranger tries to tell me what I "care about", which is actually less informative than off-putting. I appreciate the passion when it is directed courteously in a constructive manner and do recognize the value of a site like this as I have been an active contributor to similar forums. I have made a donation to the site, yet the policy of "pay to play" for posting info about an item for sale still doesn't come across as intuitively constructive or practical. Obviously, there are other very legitimate venues for someone to use to advertise or sell their item... It is natural to think that any person, even a very active member of this forum, would choose to invest their resources at such a venue. If that person can't or chooses not to spend additional money with classicseacraft.com, it seems the policy is to deny the announcement which deprives the entire membership the information that this item is available. It is a bit counterintuitive for a forum format based on sharing information. It is in this context that I asked my question this morning about the policy. Perhaps this exact issue has already seen a healthy debate by this group and the collective wisdom has settled on this policy. I offer my $.02, my $25, and yield to the collective wisdom : )

I'd like to own up to posting before reading. It's not the first time, probably won't be the last time and certainly isn't the best way to do it. Thanks to all for your patience!

It takes a big man to even suggest that his "interpretation" may not have been the best. I gladly accept him at his word and if no one else has said , Welcome to the "Monkey Barrel," let me be the first. Welcome Capt'n.

Now, please someone in the market pony up and buy this man's third love - his boat. Offer him what it's worth and then add $25.00 to it so he breaks even!!!!
