"And someone said SoFla is expensive"
Naw......those folks up there are in a league by themselves!! Went to the US Open at Shinnecock Hills in 2004, my brother-in-law and I went into East Hampton to get Mexiacn take out. While waiting on the meal we had two regular everyday Mexican beers at the bar. The meal came and I had to settle up at the bar.....a smooth $12 for two beers....I told the bartender I did not order OR drink a six pack!!!! He had no sense of humor. Then to make it even worse.....the meal for four was a VERY SMOOTH $94 and it tasted like crap and we threw half of it away!!! SoFla is bad but not like those yahoos!!!!! Sorry to those CSC yahoos up there! Well sorta sorry! ![]() |

I did see one of the Metan boats down here at the Lauderdale Show, very nice, 37k for a redone 17 Boston Whaler, no motor, definitly for a certain clientele.
$6 a beer? That ain't bad. Went to the movies the other day, $13 for a SMALL soda and SMALL popcorn, no extra charge for the butter!!! $94 for a dinner of four? Be happy to pay that all day long, not Mexican though!! :-) It's different world we live in. Hard to justisfy what some people spend on their toys. Pretty sure I wouldn't put $175k on an inboard 23 SeaCraft, on spec. And I LOVE SeaCrafts!!!! OP |

Having done a few restores myself, (my company has done a few also), there is something to be said for restoring something Classic. There just aren't many boats out there that have the lines of a Classic SeaCraft 20, let alone the ride.
Depending on who does the restore and the quaility, there is nothing like showing up at the dock next to some new rides, knowing you have a fine boat and not too many others are like it. Same thing goes with my Eagle Trawler, pull up next to bunch of newer Grand Banks and what are people talking about and looking at? The Eagle. Now the secret is, when it is time to sell, to find the individual that has the same taste that you do, and is willing to pay for it. |
