I was headed that way, I raised the stringers by 2" to give some extra room, but it still was not enough to make it feel right. The problem is the deck/cap does not come in far enough, its extremely awkward (and maybe dangerous) to have the sole at a level where you are leaning out to get to the gunnels. Your feet are behind you.

If the gunnels were a bout 4" wider up at the bow, it might work so long as you also raise the sole by 2". Of course the more you raise the sole, your loosing freeboard and the safety it affords. Its possible, but IMHO not very practical until you get a little bit bigger boat, then there is more room. Not to mention a loss of storage.
