I just realized that Cliff Root is in the Power Squadron I'm in on Anna Maria. It appears he moved here from Miami full time. I will be discussing Skip and Carla's 21 with him. I'll post what I find out

This is a piece of history, the likes of which none of us often, if ever, get a chance to participate in.

Way cool and to think we are just a bunch of dedicated "wingnuts" to a particular hull design from when it was manufactured the old fashion way, ah-hum, I meant to say "RIGHT!"

I would like to think that we have or have had over 20% of the entire Seacraft production within this community alone. If that's about right, it would be truly amazing.

I'm so glad that boat finally ended up where it belonged! I picked it up at Mr. Root's house (a very fine gentleman by the way) and stored it at the RV storage yard in Homestead ARB next to my 20' Seafari for a few weeks until Jeff picked it up. It still had one semi-complete engine on the port side ( I thought it looked like a '60's vintage 4-cylinder Evinrude/Johnson but it could have been a Homelite, it didn't have a cover) and the lower unit of another on the starboard side, most of the floor was gone and she looked a mess. Hell, even the trailer was an original unit with round tubing for the frame! I was very impressed by the hull on her and her beam, looked wider than most 20 footers.

Anyway, thanks Carla for resurrecting her, she deserves it.

Nestor ... Skip and I are the ones so appreciative of being on the receiving end of this old race boat! When we got her, the engines were totally gone and it was cleaned up. All the trees, weeds, dirt, etc had been taken out. That was nice that I didn't have to climb in and shovel out the muck.

Restore process is extremely slow, but still going on. Skip's currently working on Anchor locker, building the shelf and bulkhead. And we're gathering info on how to best add coring to the underside of forward deck & catwalk. We need to extend the decking (much had been cut away) and want to attach a Seafari cabin top.
Yes, the 21' is wider than the 20' which will provide nice walk space around the cabin top.

By the way, Mr. Root also gave me 2 original photos of the boat in its heyday, I posted them before on this site, but I would like for you to have the originals, if you PM me your mailing address I'll send them to you. Here they are, the color one was from the day I picked it up.

I had dinner with Cliff and his wife Beverly at the squadron last week! He has a bio in our recent newsletter. It has great info on his boating background. Here is the link (page 10) click April 2012:
