I believe the WEMA sending unit lengths are actual. You deduct 1" from tank depth for a plastic tank and 3/4" for a metal tank to get the length you need. It's all on their web site. I think you would be ok with a 7" unit. If you get an 8", it's not gonna fit. Dave
