i did read lupis and i was worried before i bought it about the weight. i stood on the bracket with my blackmax and im 230 lbs it did go down but not as bad as i thought it would. the opti is 100 lbs heavier than my blackmax. but i will be taking it out at about 130 to see how it runs on the boat i know im going to have to reprop it also. anyways if it is too much im sure i can trade or sell for something smaller. i got this motor 2007 225 opti for 4k installed.

Hey buddy. I had that 250 Yamaha on mine and it was terrible! The boat was sitting too low in the water, motor weighed around 500 pounds. I installed a 130 Etec which weighs 390 and it makes all the difference in the world. That 100 extra pounds that the new motor weighs might be the difference in making that boat sit in the water because 100 pounds less on my boat took it right out the water. With that heavy motor in rough seas it will be pretty dangerous especially with a following sea. Also, I checked the weight of every outboard out there and noticed that Mercury are actually the heaviest. I tell you this from personal experience because I was going really fast but now this boat rides beautiful.
