Default Hinkley Style Custom Hardtop on 23' Sceptre

I currently have a 1076 23 foot Seacraft Sceptre made by the one and only Bill Potter. The boat has twin 3.0L Volvos I/O's. I have a slight transom issue, bilge runs twice a day. I am thinking that I am going to repower, redo the transom and gelcoat the hull. If I put the money into this investment i want to put a hardtop on as well. I have looked around and priced out new ones versus old ones which include cost of getting it to Florida.

I have come up with an idea to remove my windshield and built a Hinkley, Loster boat style hardtop for the boat. I have been researching on the best methods to build such a top. I figured I would pose the question here because there is an incredible wealth of Seacraft knowledge here. I was thinking a light marine ply or alternative light material, glassed over and then have custom glass put in. I am dedicated to my Seacraft and think I could have a unique boat when all said and done.

Final question would be about weight issues??? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
