Thanks for the input guys...
Don..I will have to go to Lowe's..I am not allowed back at Home Depot
Questions:
-Would 2 jackplates work ok as a temp fix or will it put too much stress on transom?
Was thinking of going with something like this pictured..or should I just bite the bullet and raise transom?

-Cost of jackplates will probably be more than cost for me to buy materials and raise transom...thinking out loud
Transom is solid as a rock now.

-Any pictures of 30" transom jobs?
