jesse - the tell tail temp on 2.0, 2.4, and 2.5l mercs is hot compared to other motors 120+ degrees. You don't want to keep your hand under it. Also it takes a long time for the engine to come up to temp . . . thermostats don't open until block temp hits 143 degrees. you'll get a weak pee stream until the engine heats up. If you live up in New England . . . this time of year it seems to take forever.
If the engine is new to you. do the poppet, tstats, plugs, gear oil, and water pump? p.s. - if you only found 4 . . . and you got the front, sides, and the one under the zinc . . . you are missing the 2 under cavitation plate. |

Thanks for the information, I'm learning as I go so all the info helps out a lot. Located the front screw, one on each side and the one under the trim tab plate. There are 2 I'm missing, where is the Zinc?
Thanks |

I allways like having a water pressure gauge it can save the day if you pick up a bag and cut off the flow often before the impeller gets cooked. haven't done it but had thought of putting a pressure switch in if the pressure dropped to below 2-3 lbs . does hobbs make a switch that low??
