Trailer Route Help

I'm trailering the boat from CT to Lindenhurst, NY on Long Island this weekend and am having a very hard time getting directions for use with the trailer (avoiding parkways that don't allow trucks or trailers).

Does any one have a suggestion for a website or app that would be helpful in navigating with a trailer?

Does taking the Cross Sound or Bridgeport ferries make any sense? It costs a bit but avoids having to deal with NYC. Alternatively you could just take 95 to the Throggs Neck Bridge to Clear view Expressway and that will take right to the LIE/495 then head east.

The ferry actually makes the trip a little longer and costs a fortune but the clearview and LIE may be the right bet. I was really hoping to have a truck version of mapquest. I found an app but it costs $10 for a 1 week subscription and I'm cheap.

I go to sayville Long Island quite often as my son lives there.(its close to Lindenhurst) I almost always take the Cross Sound ferry from New London Ct.
As mentioned,it's kind of pricy,but it is so much more relaxing,and stress free.It is longer than driving,but much nicer,and The ride from Orient Point where the ferry lands, to your destination is also so much nicer than the congestion on any of the bridges and the LIE.
You get to ride on country roads along many vineyards,and some sweet houses on the water.

On my last trip to LI on the ferry,there were two pickup trucks with Boston whalers in the mid twenty foot ranges on board.

If I drive all the way,I can make it From my house in MA.(near the Enfield Ct. line) to LI in a bit less than 3 hours,that's assuming I leave at 6:00am. If I get a late start it can take an hour or more longer because of the traffic on the highways and bridges and the LIE.
When I do drive,it's usually when I make the trip home,because it's usually after dinner on a sunday and the traffic is light.
If I do that I"ll take the LIE to the White stone bridge,and onto 95 to 91.

I'm in Norwalk, southwest of Bridgeport for the Port Jefferson ferry. The drive is not much fun but I should be able to make it in under 2 hours. I think going by ferry will be a little longer and cost over $150. The drive is not quite as scenic as the orient pt ferry either.

Always liked stopping into Stew Leonards when we were there.
Looks like driving really makes the most sense for you.I'm about 65 to 75 miles north of you, and I can make Long Island in about 3 hours and you have about an hour and a half jump on me.
Leave early and it's a breeze. Good luck.

yep, I'm expecting close to two hours there with the trailer and hoping for 90 mins home without it depending on traffic.

I'm less than a mile from Stews. Their weekly specials dictate our dinner menu for the week.
