Default Bennett to Lenco retrofit kit

Does anyone know the length of the Lenco actuator given in the Bennett retrofit kit? Thinking about swapping to Lencos but I'm not sure if the actuator size matches up, and I can't go much bigger than the small Bennett actuator.

not to get into a giant debate:

if you're smart, you're gonna forget about swapping out those Bennett tabs for lenco's

those lenco actuators, they fail consistently - I've replaced 10 so far this season

it's an electric motor, and it's gonna be immersed in salt water...

Three boats, 15 years, two actuators. If anything in the system keeps them from working during a trip you can kick them down manually and move them up with a little force. Bennett system failure = no tabs.

Both can have issues but in my opinion Lenco has the edge and is far easier to repair if there is a problem. They are great to work with as well if you have an issue.

We replaced 6 in May and June alone this year. Only 1 so far in July.
Not a big fan of the Lenco's, although they are easier to swap out than the Bennetts. Bennetts have their foibles too though.

Seems like if the boat gets used regularly the Lenco's are fine, but if the boat sits, they freeze up.
As is usually the case with all things boat.

Agreed, I also wouldn't recommend Lenco if the boat stays in the water.

My overall preference for Lenco is based on helping others fix their Bennetts. If you have lots of room to place the pump/tank in an easy to get to place that's dry the Bennetts may offer some longevity over the Lenco actuators but on most smaller boats space is limited and electronic devices subject to bilge conditions are not much better off than being on the back of the boat. For me the Lenco tabs are the best option for a trailer boat and if you are at the ramp for a big trip and one or both are not working you still can make adjustments for the day. The same scenario with Bennett leaves you without any tab control and may cancel your trip. That's a big deal for me as running without tabs on the type of trips I do is not an option I would be comfortable with.

Why are you considering swapping them out? I'm really not sure on your size requirements but I'm sure a quick call to Lenco would get you the exact information you need. It might even land you a pretty good discount ordering direct if you opt to go that way. They are also a breeze to install yourself.
