Soverel bought Waterway Marina in late 1983, right after Fisher Coachworks bought Rybovich/Spencer which itself had purchased Soverel Yachts immediately prior. The plan at the time was to move all Soverel construction to the site, instead of the split production they had prior to that. To do that they tore down the Waterway Marina storage barn and then built a restaurant over part of the site.

I ended up being moved from GM at Waterway to Dockmaster at Rybovich in West Palm to begin closing the in-out storage operations at Rybovich Marina because the Fisher family wanted to build a condominium on the site. Once I did that, I had worked myself out of a job, as the Dockmaster at Spencer had been with Rybovich for 20 years.

Rybovich/Spencer ended up being sold again back to the Rybovich family in late 1984, which has since reorganized a few times, but the Rybovich family is still involved.

My grandfather was a partner with Tommy Rybovich after WWII in real estate development in the South Palm Beach and Lake Worth area, including owning Lake Worth Yacht Basin at Dixie Highway and the Palm Beach Canal, which was torn down to make way for the expanded spillway and locks in the early 1970's.

Small world, isn't it?
