Eager to mount the engine
Paper templates and measurements are out there but I would like one of these. I imagine most of the time it's a one or two time use Anyone have one I can beg borrow or steal or buy? |

Yes a jig as you pictured would be convenient if the bolt hole pattern was correct and if the drop to the top holes was also correct. I recently carefully made one from 5/8” plywood that I clamped on at the desired height. Also used a small square next to the drill to get perpendicularity to the transom. My friend who helped me during the engine install was surprised all four bolts went in without any redrilling. |

I turned a jig out of aluminum that was a tight fit in the holes of the mounting bracket. I drilled on the lathe a pilot hole in this aluminum jig that was smaller than the mounting bolt and would allow me to drill a true pilot hole in each location. Remove jig and drill full size for mounting bolt. Worked very well.

I've seen pictures of people removing a mounting bracket off an old engine and using it as a drill template.
