I’ve never explored this area of Fla.. Moose, are you only going to be able to get to the group by boat? I’d like to attend, leaving from Hernando Beach and leaving Lucie behind with neighbors. If the ‘77 Seafari is sold by then, I’d like to bring the MA. TIA,

Michael

Michael, unlike the Nature Coast with it’s relatively short rivers and canals (Hernando Beach) that open directly into the Gulf, Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound is a rather large bay and island system, particularly south of Boca Grande. If you look at the area on google earth you will see three sets of Island chains between the mainland and the Gulf with lots of protected water in the event of poor weather at our November Gathering. There are also lots of opportunities to run aground, however unlike Hernando and Citrus counties the bottom is more forgiving when navigating by Braille. Check it out and circle back if you have any questions.

Michael.
It worked out well when we tried it a few years ago, later in the Fall. Remember we “adjusted” the West Coast Gathering time into the late Summer to align with Scallop Season. We used to be a little later in the year.
If we happen to catch a November cold front that weekend there are plenty of Inshore Options down there for us to revert to, if necessary. Good Inshore fishery coming back and lots of cruising options in somewhat protected waters.

Default Key Map Points

I made a map of all the places where guys are staying and T-3's gathering spot. If you aren't on there, let me know and I'll add you, or if you haven't pulled the trigger, you better get your priorities in line and book a place! Let me know if you need help finding a place.

Sounds like someone's been fishing near Homosassa and Crystal River. You haven't lived 'til you hit an oyster bar at 20 kts.

So true! Especially at midnight in Sarasota bay!

Padre, it is extra painful with twins turning stainless wheels. Ugh!

I did it just after sundown with two women riding the roof of the Seafari cabin. Both made it all the way to the water beyond the oyster bar

No injuries except to pride and prop and two lost adult beverages.
