I'm not sure what paint to use either. It's pretty narly under the headliner. Whatever I use I want to be able to glue a headliner to in case I decide to go that route later. I'm pretty sure interprotect would work but that might be overkill. Like to hear what others think too.
I can't help with the VHF. Mine is in the cabin but I'm moving it to the electronic box in my new hardtop. My stereo is flush-mounted on the combing board next to the helm. Where you would put a side-mount control. Maybe you can flush-mount the VHF in that spot?
