23' Inboard Diesel Conversion
Hi everyone,
I know this is not a new subject on this forum. We are going to convert our 23 Seacraft straight inboard to diesel and I want to get some input from those that have done the conversion and/or running a diesel. Looking at swapping to a Yanmar for power to weight. I'm interested in the small details of the conversion or the "watch out for..." from those that have the experience. Thanks in advance for any input. |

Yanmar 4lv250? I talked to Brad Nemic at Nemic marine in New Bedford ma. he said you can still use the inch and a quarter shaft in mechanical throttle and shifter rough estimate installed starting around 40 K. I’m thinking about a small yanmar also but will see if i have the funds.

Yes I am looking at the 250 for the size/weight and the ability to keep the same shaft. We will do the installation as the boat will be undergoing a far amount of restoration at the time of the swap.
We make really long runs and need the full economy so we do not have to have range anxiety. Also be nice to have the extra cruise spend during those long runs as well. |

When I asked about the install they said they needed to install it and hook up the shaft but would let me run the raw water line muffler throttle cables and some light electrical work then I would have to bring the boat back to them so they could start it up so I can get the warranty.
