I had a 1976/77 SeaCraft 18, and the floors were rock hard in all areas. A soft floor would be something that I could not cope with. Either get it fixed or enjoy the spongy ride I guess.

No, it is NOT characteristic of the boat. And Yes, there IS wood in the floor.
