Sorry for the news.
I too work in IT field and I know it is a litle tough out there now.
Try you luck in one of those financial companies (Citibank, Bear @ Stern, etc,etc or in the communication field like Verizon).
I too moved from New England to beatiful Tampa after being let go by Wang Laboratories (Lowell, MA) in 1990. Will never go back.
Lets see NE= Cod, Pollock, flounder, Stripers, Haddock, bluefish, bluefin tuna
Florida= Sheephead, trout, redfish, grouper, tuna (back, yellow, blue), sailfish, cobia, snook, shark, tarpoon, amberjack, flounder, bluefish, pompano, permit, spanish macro, kingfish, snaper, ladyfish.......I think Florida have the edge...I will stay.
