Scotts right, a 225 is probably too heavy for a 20 inch transom. I'm in the same boat as you as far as a motor goes. Its hard to find 20 in 4cyl motors. I had a 140 Johnson on another boat( very moody and expansive electrical parts that were exclusive to 120's and 140's) rebuilding an 85 might not be worth your trouble because the electrical will eat you alive. All the bolt holes are compatable.
