Default Re: Time to repower .... Suzy DF140?

Joe,

I am not about to start a 4stroke vs DI debate here however I need to make some points. A $700 400 hour engine check is pricey for the 4 strokes yet lets add up 400 hours worth of DI oil. At 400 hours if you average 6 gallons per hour fuel burn you will eat up 2400 gallons of gas. At a 70-1 average fuel to oil mix you will burn 36 gallons of oil at the retail price of $17.99 or so per gallon( I have seen it as high as $23.99) is $647.64, almost as much as the 4 stroke 400 hour check. Another thing, my plugs on my DF 115's cost only $1.50 at the local auto parts store for NGK's, the oil filter is also about 5 bucks.(try that with a honda) Correct me if I'm wrong but Optimax plugs go for about $15.00 EACH! What's the retail cost for your customers for the 'Rude plugs? Another point, do the DI's require any 100, 200 or 400 hour checks besides plug, lower unit oil or impellers? That's my 2c.
