Hello Steve, thats exactly what I did to my boat,your right about keeping your feet dry,I hated that water coming in. If someone does this and for what ever reason the holes are below the water line ,Rabud makes a cone ball scupper that works great. When that ball is under water it seals and not a drop comes in. I also wanted to keep it original but this change was for the better.Capt D Reel Smoker.
