Tom-
It sounds like you have an extensive experince on the 18'.Where do you leave the coast to the Bahamas(departure point). Do you go with others? What time of year. Are you going to Bimini or Grand Bahama to your arrival point. What is your experience on the 18 handling the trips. PS Faxes went out on Specs to you and Striper

Snookered-
Thanks for the fax! We would leave from Ft. Pierce usually and go to Walker's...102 miles dock to dock. sometimes for fun, sometimes I'd take her over when I was fishing in the BBC As far as the boat goes, I used to work on charter boats down there and I would take the SeaCraft out on commercial trips when the fleet was blown out. Many a time I have had other captains yelling at me on the radio to get my a** back to the dock due to weather and the size of the boat. I was younger and looking back I am certain I would not try to get through the inlet now on some of those days but I gotta tell you it is one hell of a boat. Never had a single problem with her in weather other than a broken windshield from someone hanging onto it. We have a 31' Jupiter with twin 250 Yamis down there now so the "Blackwatch" is up in NC getting ready for the winter bluefin season up here. We have caught a lot of big fish from her and the goal has alwys been to catch a fish bigger than the boat and mount the boat! Told my buddy he isn't going to recognize her with the new block and tackle I'm gonna have to install for the giants!!!! She has a leaning post and T Top, live well, Icom, Furuno, etc. Pretty well rigged for offshore. MY buddy was supposed to go in the "Candy Store" in Ft. Pierce Saturday and pick me up a center rigger but the crook went fishing instead. Imagine that! Anyway, thanks again for the fax, TB. |

TB-
Man, great stories on getting out the max from your 18. Well equiped as you mentioned. I grew up sailing with the folks, crossing from the Palm Beach Inlet to West End and traveling the Abacos. I am looking to make the trip in the 18, but I have to iron-out my motor reliability first. The Jupiter 31 is just stretching it's legs to cross to Walker's Cay I bet!
