Another 25 Seafari goes under the knife

We had family in from out of town for the Easter weekend so I took a break from working on the boat. We paddled a 3 mile stretch of the Santa Fe River yesterday. The weather was beautiful, but I forgot to take my camera along.

I had worked on retooling the mold for the live well tub during the week and found some time to do the lay up after everybody left for the airport this afternoon.

This is my wet out table. I’ve found it’s much easier to wet out the biaxial cloth on a flat surface and then roll it in place, rather than trying to wet it out in place. That doesn’t work so good with chopped strand mat, though. Once it’s wet out, it doesn’t hold together.

I still need to trim it and fit it in place. The shop looks like a disaster area with all the stuff I've done over the past couple weeks. So the next job is to do a thorough clean up and reorganization. After that, I'll be ready to take all these parts I’ve made and core them and assemble them. I’ll post more as I go through that.

Very nice. I like what you did with the helm. If I have one complaint it's that I just cant get comfortable sitting at the wheel. I put in tilt hydro steering this winter so I will be relatively happy standing.

looking good...I mean looking great Dave! Be careful when you core those parts especially the lids since they are out of the molds. You might get a little distortion. It's always better to finish the entire lay up coring and all while the part still sits in the mold. I know I know you just could not wait to see what they looked like

Thanks, Jim and Will. And thanks, Chuck for the words of caution. I'll see what I can do to avoid distortion. The lids have some cup to them now, but it flexes flat if I push on it. I've got some lead ingots laying around I can use to weight the core as the resin cures. I'll try that on the first one and see how it goes.
